			<description><![CDATA[<div id="imBlogPost_t7snrtp3"><div><span class="fs12 cf1">The </span><b class="fs12"><span class="cf1">Mimmo Rotella Institute</span></b><span class="fs12 cf1"> (MRI), founded in 2012 at the wishes of </span><b class="fs12"><span class="cf1">Inna</span></b><span class="fs12 cf1"> and </span><b class="fs12"><span class="cf1">Aghnessa</span></b><span class="fs12 cf1"> </span><b class="fs12"><span class="cf1">Rotella</span></b><span class="fs12 cf1">, following the sad loss of Germano Celant, announces the establishing of the </span><b class="fs12"><span class="cf1">Scientific Committee</span></b><span class="fs12 cf1"> composed of </span><b class="fs12"><span class="cf1">Vincenzo de Bellis</span></b><span class="fs12 cf1">, </span><b class="fs12"><span class="cf1">Elizabeth Mangini</span></b><span class="fs12 cf1"> and </span><b class="fs12"><span class="cf1">Vicente Todolí</span></b><span class="fs12 cf1">.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span class="cf1 ff1">From the very beginning the MRI has availed itself of the collaboration of </span><b><span class="cf1 ff1">Germano Celant</span></b><span class="cf1 ff1"> for the realization of the </span><i><span class="cf1 ff1">Catalogo ragionato Mimmo Rotella </span></i><span class="cf1 ff1">[</span><b><i><span class="cf1 ff1">Mimmo Rotella Catalogue raisonné</span></i></b><span class="cf1 ff1">] and for the curating of some of the most important exhibitions devoted to the artist.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span class="cf1 ff1">In continuity with the activities previously conducted, the MRI, under the direction of </span><b><span class="cf1 ff1">Antonella Soldaini</span></b><span class="cf1 ff1"> and now with the support of the Scientific Committee, will carry forward the tasks for which it was founded: the appreciation and safeguarding of the figure and work of Mimmo Rotella through cultural initiatives such as exhibitions, publications, conferences and debates.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span class="cf1 ff1">In this context the MRI will ensure that, respecting Germano Celant’s project and methodology, it continues the realization of the subsequent volumes of the </span><i><span class="cf1 ff1">Catalogue raisonné</span></i><span class="cf1 ff1"> – the second one has just been published – as well as undertaking initiatives supporting the increased awareness, at national and international level, of Mimmo Rotella, one of the main protagonists of the Italian art of the postwar period.</span></div><div><br></div><div><b><span class="cf1 ff1">Vincenzo de Bellis </span></b><span class="cf1 ff1">is Curator and Associate Director of Programs, Visual arts at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis since 2016. At Walker he has organized exhibitions of </span><span class="cf1 ff1">Nairy Baghramian</span><span class="cf1 ff1"> (2017), Jimmie Durham (2017) and Mario Garcia (2018). His next projects are “The Paradox of Stillness: Art, Object and Performance” (May 2021), “American Art 1961-2001: Selections from the Walker Art Center Collections” at Palazzo Strozzi (2021) and the first US Museum retrospective of Jannis Kounellis (2022). From 2009 to 2016 de Bellis was founding director and curator of Peep-Hole Art Center in Milan. In 2015, de Bellis curated “Ennesima, an Exhibition of Seven Exhibitions on Italian Art” at Triennale in Milan. He has also served as artistic director of MiArt in Milan from 2012 to 2016. Previously, he held curatorial roles at Museion, Bolzano and GAMeC, Bergamo. De Bellis holds a Master of Arts in Curatorial Studies from Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College and he is a member of the Steering Committee of the Contemporary Curators Conference. He is a contributor to numerous exhibition catalogs and art publications.</span></div><div><br></div><div><b><span class="cf1 ff1">Elizabeth Mangini</span></b><span class="cf1 ff1"> is Associate Professor and Chair of the History of Art and Visual Culture at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. She is the author of numerous essays on postwar and contemporary art, a regular contributor to </span><i><span class="cf1 ff1">Artforum</span></i><span class="cf1 ff1">, and editorial board member for </span><i><span class="cf1 ff1">Palinsesti</span></i><span class="cf1 ff1">. </span><i><span class="cf1 ff1">Contemporary Italian Art On-Line journal</span></i><span class="cf1 ff1">. Professor Mangini has held curatorial positions and postgraduate fellowships at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; and MASS MOCA, North Adams. In 2017, Mangini, in conversation with Germano Celant, presented the first volume of </span><i><span class="cf1 ff1">Mimmo Rotella Catalogue raisonné</span></i><span class="cf1 ff1"> to the American public and press at CIMA, Center for Italian Modern Art, in New York. Her most recent project, a book entitled </span><i><span class="cf1 ff1">Seeing Through Closed Eyelids: Giuseppe Penone and the Nature of Sculpture,</span></i><span class="cf1 ff1"> is forthcoming from University of Toronto Press in spring 2021. BA, Stanford University; MA, Williams College; PhD, The Graduate Center, City University of New York.</span></div><div> &nbsp;</div><div><span class="cf1 ff1"> </span></div><div><b class="fs12"><span class="cf1">Vicente Todolí</span></b><span class="fs12 cf1"> is the Artistic Director of Pirelli HangarBicocca since 2012. From 1989 to 1996 he was the Artistic Director at IVAM (Istituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno, Valencia). From 1996 to 2003 he directed the </span><span class="fs12 cf1">Serralves Museum in</span><span class="fs12 cf1"> </span><span class="fs12 cf1">Porto. In 2003 he was appointed Director of the Tate Modern in </span><span class="fs12 cf1">London, role </span><span class="fs12 cf1">he kept until 2010. 			<description><![CDATA[<div id="imBlogPost_ey2zqe0w"><div><span class="fs12">The book, edited by Germano Celant, with the support of Antonella Soldaini and Veronica Locatelli for the scientific research, is being developed in partnership with the Mimmo Rotella Institute and published by Skira.</span></div><div> </div><div><br> </div><div> </div><div>In this volume, the scholarly analysis and verification are carried out on works made between 1962 and 1973, when Rotella consolidated his <i>décollage </i>practice and began exploring photomechanical image reproduction techniques.
